Doing Moderate Repairs On The Chevy Colorado Rear And Off-road Bumper

On spotting scratches, think of doing repairs first before resorting to doing a replacement which may not be necessary at that stage. Some scratches are easy to repair while others are complex and require more time with appropriate tools to fix. This article will help you carry out moderate scratch repairs when you spot them on your Chevy Colorado off-road bumper. Even with many tools and materials required, it is time-consuming compared to known minor scratch repairs. This is because a lot of paint is sanded off that will be repainted after the repair. You require a sand paper, squeegee, adhesion sealer, bumper repair kit, car bumper among other tools. Liaise with your auto dealer to ensure you have all the necessary materials before you get done to work. Begin by prepping the bumper. Using a 24-grit sandpaper, lightly scuff the scratched region to remove any loose pieces of plastic or paint that are still held on the Chevy Colorado rear bumper. Using a damp cloth wipe off the area in one direction and allow it to dry. After the prepping, the area, use now an 80-grit sandpaper to sand the surface again. Try and go a few inches deeper. If you want to use a little time, maybe you can hire a power sander, but the hand still delivers good results. The surface of the Chevy Colorado bumper is now ready to begin filling the scratches after thorough sanding. The surface should be now appearing as grooves in the bumper. Proceed to mix the filler materials from the repair kit while following the instructions and mixing in appropriate proportions. Using the squeegee, apply the filler into the scratches and allow a thin coat of the filler to suffice a bit while you ensure it is filled inside. Once the filler has hardened, you will be required to sand again using the 80-grit sandpaper to get rid of the excess filler that you allowed to suffice before. On finishing, the scratches should have been repaired now and now ready to proceed with the paint job. Start by applying two coats of adhesion sealer. Proceed with application of two coats of the primer after allowing the adhesion to dry. Inspect after even drying to ensure that the coating has been achieved and add more if not yet. You are guaranteed of getting a shiny Chevy Colorado off-road bumper if you follow all instructions.
